Season 20 Coming To DVD
It is true. The twentieth series of the Simpsons could be coming to DVD and BluRay as soon as Christmas.
I have included a picture of two possible versions, but I am almost definate the official one is on the left. After lots of demands from viewers to release HD DVDs of the Simpsons, FOX listened and decided to release.
As for Season 13 to Season 19, they will be released in six monthly spots, instead of the recent yearly spots. Only the HD episodes will be in HD, the others in SD.
I will keep you updated with more news of the new DVD soon.
Aftermath: Four Great Women & A Manicure
Here are the results for last week’s episode.
A total of 5.16 million viewers watched ‘Four Great Women & A Manicure’, making it the least-watched episode of all time. These are the ten least watched episodes – most of which are Season 20:
- Four Great Women & A Manicure (Season 20) 5.16m
- Lisa the Drama Queen (Season 20) 5.75m
- Father Knows Worst (Season 20) 5.94m
- Gone Maggie Gone (Season 20) 5.97m

Family Guy had 6.47 million viewers at 9:00, keeping it as the number one performer for Fox on Sunday nights. King Of The Hill had 4.10 million viewers and American Dad 4.95 million, which, compared to The Simpsons at 8:00 in a more accessible timeslot is actually impressive.
Low ratings have been blamed on lots of things before, but there’s no question about it: people do not like these “storytelling” episodes. They alienate the casual Simpsons viewer, who are likely to turn off or just not tune in to begin with if the stories do not interest them. Even I did not want to watch it, but for the purposes of this website I forced myself to. The show would be doing itself a favor in dropping these episodes entirely and having the season cut short one episode.
Aftermath: Wavery Hill 9021D’oh
The ratings for Sunday night’s episode Waverly Hills 9-0-2-1-D’oh are finally in after some delays with the Nielsen figures. A total of 6.66 million viewers tuned in, which are relatively good numbers compared to the last few months.
The show even beat Family Guy, which had 6.56 million viewers at 9:00. Reinstated to it’s post-Simpsons slot, King Of The Hill drew 5.14 million viewers, while American Dad ended the night’s schedule on 5.53 million.
Season Finale Preview: Coming To Homerica
Yes, this is it, the finale of Season 20, airing 17 May.
When Ogdenville’s residents abandon the town after an economic collapse triggered by tainted Krusty-brand veggieburgers, Homer forms his own border patrol to keep the Ogdenvillians out of Springfield. This episode is similar to “Poppa’s Got A Brand New Badge” and “Homer the Vigilant”
No more new episodes will be shown until September, but repeats of episodes will be shown until then. A repeat of an unconfimed Season 20 episode will air 31 May.
Preview: Four Great Women & A Manicure
This is the penultimate episode, airing 10 May, but this Sunday we have 90210D’oh.
Marge and Lisa visit the nail salon where they engage in a spirited debate as to whether a woman can be smart, powerful and beautiful all at the same time. To prove their point, they spin four tales of famous women featuring famous Springfield faces: Selma as Queen Elizabeth I, Lisa as Snow White, Marge as Lady Macbeth and Maggie (guest voice Jodie Foster) as the idealistic architect protagonist from Ayn Rand’s “The Fountainhead”.
Aftermath: Father Knows Worst
Last night’s episode ‘Father Knows Worst’ entered the danger zone, the below 6 million viewer mark. 5.94 million viewers tuned in to the show, just shy of the record for least-watched episode of all time (Lisa The Drama Queen, 5.75 million). It becomes the second least-watched episode ever, pushing March episode ‘Gone Maggie Gone” (5.97 million) into third place.
At 8:30, the second outing of new show ‘Sit Down Shut Up’ had a paltry 4.20 million viewers. If you listen closely you can hear the sharpening of an axe. The show acted as a poor lead-in to Fox’s ‘Family Guy’ which, too, had its ratings dented at 6.80 million. American Dad followed with 5.15 million viewers. Fox was fourth overall for the night and tied second with CBS among adults 18 – 49.
